Enzian was not favoured by the Flak Ministerium, and other projects, most notably Schmetterling were given higher priority; (Schmetterling gained favour because of its smaller size and therefore ease of handling). Prejudice, personal favouritisms and politics within the RLM were also partly to blame for the loss of Enzian, although some carelessness in test flights led to faulty test data and a loss of confidence amongst Army and Air Force officers

En lugar de malograr recursos con las V1 y V2, especialmente esta ultima, las armas que necesariamente mas tendria de apremiar Alemania eran los misiles tierra-aire y aire-aire. Armas tales como el Rheintochter, Feuerlilie, Hs 293, Hs 298, Wasserfall, Taifun, Rheinbote, Schemetterling, Ruhrstahl X-4, Ruhrstahl X-7... podrian a ver causado muchos mas quebraderos de cabeza que las armas V en las filas aliadas. Pero por cuestiones politicas, financieras, o el simple hecho de que ese tipo me cayera mal, eran razones suficientes para desestimar o retrasar proyectos a la par mas necesarios de los existentes.
