para actualizar la información que colgué en su momento comentar que el terreno donde se encuentran los restos del Westwall en el sector de Roetgen, hasta hace poco en propiedad privada, ha sido comprado por una asociación de historiadores con el objetivo de abrirlo al público. Ayer fué la inauguración: se ha incluido un recordatório a dos soldados, uno americano y otro alemán, caídos ambos en este paso y sonáron los himnos alemanes y americano así como el "US honoring the fallen" y el "Ich hatte einen Kameraden". Aquí imagenes actuales:

I don't know if you remember, but back in 2016 I sent you a PM to ask you more about these photos of the Westwall. At the time, I had been doing a lot of research on the location where my Uncle lost his life in 1944, and I was able to identify your photos to be the correct location he fell (the first US soldier to die in Germany in the ground invasion). Beyond that, I could not find any other information about it. I PM'ed you, and you referred me to some fine gentlemen from the Roetgen historical society. This led to correspondence with the society, a couple of visits to the area, meeting new life-long friends, and finally, the Society making the decision to purchase the land and erecting a beautiful marker to Lt. Burrows, Heinrich Brunk and all those lost in the wars of the 20th century. I just wanted to let you know that I am forever grateful, as are the rest of Lt. Burrow's family, that you took the time to upload pictures, and to document them. And more importantly, that you put me in touch with the Historical Society! Since then, I have been able to visit the location three times, and two months ago, there were Eighteen of us from the US that were able to attend the ceremony in the Roetgen Burgersall on Sept. 12th (75 years to the day). Later, we were able to watch the unveiling of the monument at the site. I'm also grateful for the Operator of this forum for hosting this information!
